Nowadays we are discovering that the lifestyles we are leading are not as healthy as we think they are. Of course, we know that smoking and drinking is not good for our health, but even other things that used to be harmless are turning to be bad for us in the long run, like red meat and coffee. It additionally turns out that medication that we have been getting all these years have chemicals that affect us or that remain in our system. We are also vulnerable to pollution particles, both in the air and water, as well as colorants, chemicals and conservatives that our food is very often processed with.
An underrated organ: the liver
Our liver is the main defence we have against all these toxins. It is responsible for the natural detoxing of our bodies. It cleans our system by breaking down toxins into smaller and simpler elements so that they can be easier eliminated from our bodies. Unfortunately, we usually give our liver a hard time. It was definitely not designed to work under high quantities of alcohol, smoke, pollution, or chemicals, so from time to time we have to give it some help.
Following a liver detox
The good news is that the best liver detox is the cheapest and the simplest one but the bad news is that it can be the hardest one if you do not have the willpower or are too addicted to a legal drug. In any case, you do not need to consult a doctor or specialist to tell you how to go about this kind of liver detox. You know the drill, no tobacco or alcohol; lots of fruits and vegetables, physical exercise and of course water, and reduce meat, especially red meat consumption.
Milk thistle
There are several liver detox methods, for those who want a shortcut. For example the milk thistle is a very common recommended liver detox substance. There are several presentations like teas or pills but I recommend the natural, organic ones, like tea. Anyway, this is just a personal preference and pills will be as effective.
Another alternative: supplements
Supplements and vitamin pills are also used by many people as another alternative for liver detox. These substances are aimed at more specific situations, for example, Vitamin B is an often advised liver detox option for people who drink often or after a night of excessive drinking. In my humble opinion, no alcohol intake at all would be a better liver detox solution in each and every case.
Last but not least, there are liver detox supplements that vary greatly in content and presentation, in such a great extend that it would be impossible to talk about all of them in this article. I recommend buying supplements only if you have been advised to by someone whom you can trust. And of course, people who make commissions by selling them do not fall in that certain category from whom you should take an advice.
