    Nowadays, time is one of the scarcest resources we have. We get up early and we barely eat something before facing one or two hours of traffic each morning. Every day we spend 8 to 10 hours at work, without overtime, and then we face again another one or two hours of traffic. Finally arrived at home, we barely have a chance to prepare dinner and iron the clothes that we are going to wear the next day. Besides this if you have children then there is no time left for ourselves. Consequently we decide everyday that we can go to the gym “the next day.” Even on those rare days that we do have some time for us, we would rather spend it with our friends and family, or get something that we need as much as physical exercise: rest. Due to this we deny our body the physical exercise it normally needs.

    Our sedentary life

    Due to our work we are usually sitting in front of a computer, except for the small amounts of time we spend preparing other things. This sedentary life tends to make us overweight, which in turn, gives us problems of self-esteem, as well as increasing the risk of serious diseases or health problems.

    Consuming diet food

    That is why a lot of people have changed to diet foods. We have not enough time to do physical exercises every time but we certainly have time to eat everyday. Consequently, as a result why not just change our regular foods to diet foods and lose weight due to this process?

    Suggestions regarding the right food

    First of all let’s start with diet drinks, which to me personally are classified as diet foods when they are designed to give a lower calories content than their normal versions. Some people are of the opinion that “diet” or “light” versions of these products do not taste as well as the regular versions, and I sometimes tend to agree with them. Instead of drinking “diet” or “light” drinks I would recommend drinking water.

    One of my favourite diet foods is definitely fish. A lot of people think that they need to stop meat overall, but that is not true because our body still needs proteins to function. Therefore fish is a tasty alternative for red meat and besides this it is low in fat too.

    A lot of people think that we should stop ingesting fat altogether and instead eat diet foods which have no fat. Once again it is important to reduce the intake of fat but not eliminating it all. On top of that several diet foods contain a reasonable amount of fat. I would definitely recommend olive oil, which not only contains a healthy dose of fat, but also anti-oxidants.

    The nutritional values

    If you still want to buy diet foods, you should check the nutritional values on the package. They are very easy to check against a nutritional chart and these give you a better idea of what you are eating.

    Last but not least, even the best diet foods in the world are not enough to keep your body in shape. Try to give your body the physical exercises it needs even though it seems hard.
